PLASTIC IS KILLING THE OCEAN!

Birds are dying, fish are sick and dying.  Whole areas of the ocean are now dead.  What the hell?  We only started using plastics since the 50s.  If we learned to use them this fast, we can unlearn using them.  Here are some ways to get rid of plastic in daily life:

1.  If they still exist in your area, stop using plastic bags to do your shopping.  You can use cloth bags.  You can put a bucket in your trunk and use the cart to bring the groceries to the bucket.  Then bring the bucket into the house...  if something spills, wash out the bucket... no sweat.

2.  NEVER USE THROW AWAY WATER BOTTLES!  Period.  Get a Metal water container and bring it with you.  Insist that others stop using the plastic bottles too.

3.  Ask the butcher to wrap your fresh meat in wax paper.  Don't buy food in styrofoam and shrink wrap.

4.  Buy bulk grains and other stuff only packaged in paper or bring your own container and fill it up in the bulk section.  You might have to find a new store that offers a bulk section.

5.  Buy milk and other liquids in glass containers only.  After enough of us do this, more manufacturers will offer it and the prices will come down.  We need to be pioneers.

6.  Avoid plastic clothing.  Cotton is very nice as is wool.  You don't need flamable plastic clothes (nylon, polyester, rayon...).

7.  Don't buy plastic lined diapers for the kid.  Use cloth diapers.  You can wash them and reuse them too, saving lots of $.  How many birds eat plasticky shit globs out at the dump?   Go out there and watch some time.

8.  Lighters?  WTF, get a metal one.  Or better yet, stop letting big Tobacco rob you of your lungs and health for their profits...  QUIT SMOKING!

9.  PARTY?  Paper cups and plates, use your regular utinsils, use your house glass cups and flatware... People know to put them in the sink when it's your dinnerware...

10.  Look at your life and your household, come up with some ideas how to elmimnate plastics, especially throw aways.
